Before you can make things better, you have to stop making them worse... Have you considered that being critical, judgmental, or invalidating toward the other parent, no matter what she or he just did will only make matters worse? Someone has to be do something. This means finding the motivation to stop making things worse, learning how to interrupt your own negative responses, body language, facial expressions, voice tone, and learning how to inhibit your urges to do things that you later realize are contributing to the tensions.

My ex has been out of the picture since last February. How is your ex's parenting time now?

Sorry to hear that.

My ex lives in another country he has access rights but doesn't utilize it. He will talk up a storm or how he wants to see your son but it's all just words. Our son is under one year old and he's only visited about 4 times for about an hour.

Long story short with his personalities and instability I wish he would just be gone. If this continues I can see he will disappoint our son more than just the normal every day child disappointments.

How old is your child?

My daughter is 2 and a half. We had 50/50 custody for the first year of her life and then he was slowly not showing up. He took off for 5 weeks the day he got served with child support papers. When he came back he kept claiming in court he wanted to see her, but he hasn't contacted me at all, despite having 2 orders since then that grant parenting time. He is now over 5k in arrears for child support. He is still in the same town I am in. Perhaps your ex will just trickle out too?

I'm sorry that you are going through that. I really am.
Do you rather him be out of your child's life?

I honestly hope my ex will trickle out, I have a feeling that he will because he's isn't good with consistency in everything. He's toxic and extra stress.
My ex is good when it comes to money. He will most likely be that guy that pays child support and doesn't have a relationship with his kid(s)
