Hi, I have been married to my wife for 45 years. Throughout those years she has shown symptoms of BPD from our honeymoon to today. I was always too naive to recognize them chief of which was emotional abuse towards the whole family. My daughter as a child was emotionally abused by her mother. Although she was raised in Long Island, NY, after college she and her husband decided to live in Maryland mainly to get away from her mother. As of today they are not communicating.
My wife blames me for everything under the sun. She explodes at the slightest provocation and sometimes becomes violent as in destroying household goods, overturning furniture, etc. She truly has a Jekyll/Hyde personality. She is quite depressed and sits around all day doing nothing. I have taken over the household chores that she could easily do.
I have been doing a lot of research on the internet and have absorbed much information on BPD. My main problem now is to find the right therapist in my area who practices Dialectical Behavior Therapy and also to convince her to go to them.
Thank you for listening.

Thank you for sharing. I am afraid that gaining agreement from someone with BPD to undergo treatment, or even evaluation, may be harder than you might imagine. Mine will not even go if it is couple's therapy.
