Are there any cases of a high functioning pwBPD recovering?

Are there any cases of a high functioning pwBPD recovering?  My ex seems so narcissistic that he never would admit he even has a problem, let alone one as serious as BPD.  He's brilliant, it's so sad and a waste of a life.  Thanks for any feedback.

Is there a definition of recovery you have in mind? The definition of recovery seems to mean different things to different experts, I have found.

Narcissistic defenses do seem to complicate the recovery process.

Its really tough the smarter they are. That intelligence is put to work warping reality to suit their own mental narratives. My recent research as been on anosognosia and the smarter they are the worse it is.

There is a reason the first stage of DBT is all about creating self-awareness because without self-awareness treatment is impossible.
