Just an update on my move
«

I got myself moved, my apartment isn't done yet, my brother is still working on it. So I am staying with my sister and her family until it is finished, been spending the weekend over there working on it, trying to get it finished enough so I can at least get all my belongings out of my car. I am still trying to avoid my problems, I don't really want to think about anything and haven't since my surgery. I keep finding excuses to ignore myself, though moving, construction and school are pretty good excuses if I say so myself haha.
I am going to try to start posting more again to get myself back in the swing of things, so I don't make too much of a habit of avoidance again.
Anyways, for those of you who are keeping up with my goings on, I am doing well I am partially moved, drove safely across country with my dog. My mood today is not fantastic and there are a lot of bumps in my journey right now but, all in all things are looking up and coming together.
I am off to go and do some more painting and work on my apartment.

Hi
deirdre
,
I've been following your story and its great to hear the progress you've made with the move. Sounds like you are making the place your own. As with all moves it will take some time getting settled in.
I don't think surgery and moving are "avoidance" they are life and life happens. Get yourself settled and then post away! We'll be here when your ready.

Deirdre thanks for the update! I am quite happy to hear that you are with your sister and working on getting truly settled in. I agree with Panda that surgery, moving, new school, etc are not avoidance. Those are all pretty big changes even though they are positive.
Take good care. Definitely keep us posted and come back and post when you are ready.

Anyways, for those of you who are keeping up with my goings on
I am actually, So thanks for the update!
I am very happy to hear you are doing well after your surgery and have (partially) moved now
Surgery is a big deal, moving too, college also so I would say you have enough on your plate already. We can only deal with so much at once, so I agree, you got some pretty good and very valid excuses
You can call it avoiding, but you can also call it wisely conserving energy to get done what needs to be done right now (moving, getting your house finished, healing from your surgery) so you can be in a good position later on to deal with those other difficult issues. As parrots we always say you first need to get your nest in order before you can start working on other things.

Not to invalidate you
but I agree with the others about what you view as avoidance. You're making a big transition and there's nothing wrong with "deidre time" in order to decompress and give yourself a break.
