So...it would appear it's easier to have the spouse step back.

Is that actually "healthier"?

Sometimes a new person in the mix causes an issue to be "dealt with".

What if the issue was handed back to the Mom. 

"Well...that's just (insert hubby name).  I certainly appreciated his help...what about you Mom?"
