My husband of 42 years has BPD he tried committing suicide 2 times he was baker acted in Florida laws I found out he bought 2 guns a AR 15 and a hand gun after the suicide I have them in my possession he said He wanted something to do suicide people shouldn’t have guns he cut hisself one time and car ifixiation second he sees a mental doctor but tells doctor he’s all good  he scares me he said I was the best thing that ever happened to him I want to leave him but I think that’s what he tried committing suicide because they said I was leaving do t know what to do I cry every day and I do t think he cares we have 3 grown children thankfully their grown I cry daily I have a rare illness and I’m pain a lot he doesn’t care I think he only cares about his self there’s so much more alcohol addiction pain medication addiction I can go on forever what should I do

I'm sorry that you're struggling with your husband's addictions and suicide ideation. Substance abuse makes mental struggles so much worse.

Do you feel safe?

It's good that you took the firearms away from him. Do you know if he bought them from a licensed dealer (the vast majority of purchases in the USA), or from a private person (legal in FL). If he bought from a store or licensed dealer, then he lied on federal form 4473 question 11f. Being committed Involuntarily is a "can't purchase" red line. Given his mental state, I wouldn't share that with him.

Have you reached out to a local DV helpline for advice? Even if he isn't violent towards you, it sounds like a dangerous situation and they can help guide you. The help lines are anonymous...
