Before you can make things better, you have to stop making them worse... Have you considered that being critical, judgmental, or invalidating toward the other parent, no matter what she or he just did will only make matters worse? Someone has to be do something. This means finding the motivation to stop making things worse, learning how to interrupt your own negative responses, body language, facial expressions, voice tone, and learning how to inhibit your urges to do things that you later realize are contributing to the tensions.

Welcome new member (click to insert in post) I use to post here many moons ago, pouring my poor heart out and getting mad at her . I just know now that life is too short to be longing for someone who is too damaged to even try to care about you after it's over. Oh yeah, they may put on a good act to come back, and they even fool themselves for a while, but no, they are too damaged. I find, and so will you all, who have traveled this heartbreak highway, that at the end,  they are still falling madly in love, with yet another one and another one, from puberty to old age, they do this and then paint the previous one black. I just stare at her now, feeling nothing at all as she is in ectasy over a new one at 60 years old. Like I said, life is too short to be sad over these people for too long. I know it's hard, but if you could see the overview up ahead, you would know what I mean. Thanks to my special BPD family here, once again, for helping me with the kindest patience and the wisest words from the suffering of many who have traveled heartbreak highway before me.

Thank you, GlennT, for these words of wisdom. I know I will be shocked and saddened when my WwBPD moves on to her next victim, I mean idealized partner. I know I'm being badmouthed and vilified as we speak. All of it hurts like hell. It's good to know there's a light at the end of the tunnel.
