Test is no longer available See new test here One of the most popular personality tests is the True Colors Personality Test. This personality test asks you to rate your likes and dislikes. The test will then score your personality as either a blue, green, orange or gold personality type. You may be a combination of two colors, but usually a member will exhibit one primary color. Intersting that most are blue and yet supposedly are frustrated by lying, etc. Wouldn't think you'd stay very long with a pwBPD then!

Yes, avoiding conflict, having too much patience, trying to restore peace in the house... .I was raised to be sophisticated and polite. Guess my mom didn't know I am going to meet a Cluster B partner.

The History of True Colors
In 1978, founder Don Lowry, became interested in the work of clinical psychologist David Keirsey. Keirsey, author of the best-selling self-help book Please Understand Me, studied the work of psychologists Carl Jung, Katherine Briggs and Isabel Myers who theorized that all people fit into one of four broad categories of personality.
Lowry set about to expand upon Keirsey’s four temperament types and simplify personality and learning theory. Lowry’s first guidebook, The Keys To Personal Success, was published in 1979.
A distinguishing quality of the True Colors Programs is the artful blending of education and entertainment, into “fun training” programs that combine audience interaction with insightful materials that inform and delight participants because they are easy to understand, to apply on a daily basis and to retain over a lifetime.

Reminds me of how using the Myers Briggs Test can help us see our & others' strengths & weaknesses & why we can rub each other up the wrong way, includinbg on the boards here, perish the thought .
I think my husband is very gold, plus green. Interesting to compare. Can see the clash.

Primary blue, secondary green. Actually they're both close, one's 13 and the other is 12. Orange is 6 and Gold is 5.

Question: I'm overwhelmingly green - is there anything relating that to schizoid personality disorder?
Green
Curious, deep, independent, factual
complicated, Inventive, loner, clever,
egghead, fair, level headed, skeptical,
theoretical, expert, Non-conformist,
technical, scientific, distant, bookish
I took another personality test a while back that suggested I have covert schizoid tendencies, i.e. being overly independent, a loner, bookish, showing emotion as far as what I think other people expect from me... .The question that got me most on the quiz posted here was something about when you meet up with friends do you prefer a handshake or a hug -- there was no option to pick neither! I have an appointment tomorrow with my counselor, I'll have to remember to ask him about this. Interesting stuff!

The question that got me most on the quiz posted here was something about when you meet up with friends do you prefer a handshake or a hug -- there was no option to pick neither! The question that got me was: "In a romantic relationship I look for (a) a soul mate or (b) a potential spouse." A) Not looking for a romantic relationship and don't see myself ever looking for that. B) IMO, the term soul mate should be banned from being used, so I'm definitely not looking for whatever a "soul mate" is supposed to be. C) I'm not looking for a potential spouse. Been there, done that - no need to repeat. Amazing how one little question can be so annoying -- . Turtle

I liked the question: Are you (a) analyzing this test or (b) going with your feelings? There's a saying that is something along the lines of "first thought is your best thought" to refer to that first moment of fresh perception... .before judgement, personal interpretation, opinions, doubt... .all our hopes and fears take over. I think we, as humans, pychoanalyze far too much lending us to be so full of pessimissm and judgement when we've been hurt the way we have. I'm a blue... .is that part of my frustrating frustration?

I took it twice because there were a couple of questions I could go either way on.
I was GOLD, then Blue, then Green, then Orange on the first test.
Second Test was: BLUE-11
Gold-10
Green-10
Orange-5

Yes, some of the green and blue things in the "frustration list" are true, I think.

Green: 11
Gold: 10
Orange: 8
Blue: 7
Pretty accurate on getting the high level outside picture. Except my problems with others seem to be more stemming from typical blue weaknesses. Maybe I manage my main weaknesses and those are in my blind spot?

Green 13 Blue 12 Gold 9 Orange 2 Interesting test. Bookish: yes. I read through about 5 fiction books a week and am reading through 2-3 nonfictions, while analyzing them and taking notes!

Lol. You are in a bowl of blue. With gold highlights? Sorry M - I was feeling a bit like I didn't fit in either until several more 'golden children' piped up. Just means you're extra specially unique.

I am green. What I find interesting is that most of us are blue or green which is intuitive on the myers briggs. Yellow and orange are sensors on the meyers briggs. Sensors I think i recall take things factually-e.g. my BPD lies and cheats. Maybe that's why they're less likely to be involved with BPDs, they see what they do factually and say forget this hit_. Whereas intuitives look more for the potential rather than what actually exisits. Can someone more familiar with myers briggs comment on this?

I'd just like to note that if I had taken this test a couple of years ago, my colors would probably have been a little more evenly distributed. I know I would have answered many questions differently (I definitely would have answered "yes" to the question about analyzing the questions!). I would probably have had a lot more gold and orange, and a little more green. Today, I am heavily skewed to the blue.
That's not a good or bad thing - just an interesting observation of how your personality/outlook/behaviors can change over the years and with different experiences.

What's also interesting is I tested ESTJ on the Myers-Briggs several years ago... .and there it is in the Gold section! I was close to E NTJ on the Myers-Briggs and today when I did the test I was definitely more gold, but Green was a close 2nd for me (I can't remember but by maybe 2 pts). So far it seems to be fairly accurate.

Hmmm, very interesting. I took this again and got a pretty different result:
Or - 11
Gr - 10
Bl - 9
Gl - 6
I think I will take this again in a couple days and see what I get.

I get it about why I frustrate certain others too. At
Blue 12
Orange 11
Green 8
Gold 1
I am bound to frustrate my husband & who I am sure is a very strong gold - especially as he is a strong gold (that's him to a t).
Similarly we have a clash as he (on the Myers Briggs) is strongly ISFJ whereas I am I/E, N (strong), T/F, P(strong).
In some ways our strengths complement the other, but he wants me to be like him & is BIG on criticism.etc. This really affected my confidence (because of my qualities?) but I have been working on it. Eg, I bought a book called "I'm not Crazy, I'm just not you" * propped it up near his much loved TV - put a copy of the cover in a frame for me.
Am not wanting to go into my "stuff" on this topic. Just thought it is very interesting to look at the implications of these test results.

Wahoo! Finally someone that is Orangish! (I am also very blue and green)
Oranges UNITE! Down with structure and tedious paperwork!
I am also an ENFP. My N and E are off the charts.
By the way! I resent that chart calling me undisciplined... .my eccentricity and randomness is a form of discipline you know!

hmmm fun thread:
I am : Blue 13
Gold 12
Green 6
orange 5
I love how my dominate blue and gold clash with the order and organized part. That is so much the battle that happens inside my head on a daily basis. My lack of organization and planning and how everyday my head and heart fight to figure out how to gain that peace that comes from being organized and planned. And the funny thing is a married a dominant orange green... .almost the exact flipped numbers as me. Silly silly!

True? Blue, and almost as strong green, with orange on third place. All the frustrations seemed very accurate as well. I certainly is a mix of blue and green, with a dash orange.

[ The question that got me was: "In a romantic relationship I look for (a) a soul mate or (b) a potential spouse." A) Not looking for a romantic relationship and don't see myself ever looking for that. B) IMO, the term soul mate should be banned from being used, so I'm definitely not looking for whatever a "soul mate" is supposed to be. C) I'm not looking for a potential spouse. Been there, done that - no need to repeat. Amazing how one little question can be so annoying -- . Turtle I felt the same way about that question! I am... . Blue 13 Gold 9 Green 8 Orange 6

I started taking this test and couldn't get very far because for most of them I am both of the answers and neither answer was more prominent than the other. The test would not have represented who I am. ditto for the co-dependency test. Not all tests here are like that but this one most definitely is--no either/or for me! Diotima

Overwhelmingly Green -- which, according to descriptions posted subsequently, describes me spot on. Right down to the "Agnostic" label. I tend to see the complexity and "unknowable" aspects of just about everything, from religion to psychology.
And the Frustration Chart -- oh boy! Exactly what drives me totally bonkers in other people and exactly what other people "accuse" me of being.
The other three colors were pretty evenly split between them. However, Green was almost double their total.

Gold 13
Green 9
Blue 8
Orange 6
I'd say gold is right on... .GOLD - You are a planner
You're a reliable organizer who can be counted on to implement other people’s ideas and get the job done. Your complete color spectrum is shown above.
You are conventional. You are the pillar of strength and have high respect for authority. You like to establish and maintain policies, procedures, and schedules. You have a strong sense of right and wrong. You are naturally parental and dutiful.
You are good at things that require organization, dependability, management, and detail. You need to be useful and to belong. You are the sensible, stable backbone of any group. You believe that work comes before play.
I got a plaque when I left military service... .the words organizational skills appear on it. What's that tell you? The naturally parental part, seems like a great thing, but how it happened, and how it plays out with others isn't always positive.

Green, followed closely by gold, not so closely by orange, and blue was pretty low.
I'm seeing 2 spikes here. The big one is for blue - I'm guessing that's people who care too much and stay with BPDs. The other is a green/xxx mix. Maybe people who aren't present-focused and stay with BPDs?
Oh meh. I think the real spike is... .no oranges.

Your Primary Color: Blue 13 Bl 10 Gr 8 Or 5 Gl BLUE - You are a Helper Congratulations, you are a primary Blue. Your communication style creates peace and harmony in the workplace. As a Blue personality you are gifted with tremendous people skills. Your complete color spectrum is shown above. You have a strong need to make a difference in the lives of other people. This strength is immediately noticeable in the way you make heart felt connections and bring out the best in those you encounter. People usually feel relaxed and comfortable in your presence. You love to build self-esteem and make others feel good about who they are. You can easily motivate and inspire people to make changes in their lives and reach their potential. This natural talent makes you excel as a counselor, teacher, social worker and journalist, but the list is far greater in the books.

Argyle, I thin kyou are onto something.
"Orange
Active, adventurous, impulsive, fun-loving,
flashy, bold, optimistic, tolerant, smooth,
energetic, skillful, open, competitive,
powerful, charming, generous, brave,
flexible, exciting, daring"
I have this in me, but it is by no means my dominant personality type. What is there was inspired by my adventurous non-Dad and is concentrated in areas of adventurous sports (enjoying the wilderness, snowboarding, speed sailboating, windsurfing, etc).
But, really, how could any of us be predominantly "flashy, bold, optimistic, daring, impulsive, or open" after what we have experienced. My uBPDm crushed any spark of that in me as a child. Those traits were punished.

Skip, which is the orange and which is the gold in this pie? I'm seeing an orange/yellow at 2% and a red at 30%. So, is the red the orange or is the red the gold? TIA Interesting that the majority of us who took the poll are blue.

Hmmm I'm blue, but I feel more green and would rather be orange... . I agree, here I am in blue again, but I might want to be orange today, and green tomorrow, but then again I wear a lot of black these days (oh, it's not on the chart!). And Gold is not my color.

What frustrates you.
What frustrates others about you.
True? I'm blue. Everything on the list. Everything that H. was. As for me, I am too overly generous when it comes to what H. wants. Guilty as charged on suppressing problems - or at least, I used to.

Modification - H. does not agree to divorce; it is "I" he says who abandoned him because I left due to his violent behavior, and I should come home and work "these things" out. I am not graciously or generously taking care of his needs anymore over mine. And, living with him at this point would destroy me as much as he says living a part is destroying him. Personal rejection is frustrating him but also me. His personal rejection of my need for boundaries -- to give me the space I need, or to always, always cross boundaries is pushing me further away -

Oh yah... .
Green: 12
Gold: 10
Orange: 8
Blue: 5
(If memory serves) If I'm ever bored, I'll try to do some sort of histogram - I'm wondering about cross-correlation.
Kind of cool... .blues and greens are overrepresented by about 3x compared to the general population, oranges are underrepresented by ~10x, and golds are underrepresented by roughly 2x. So, the predisposition for blues and greens to be in troublesome BPD relationship is quite high and oranges either steer clear or deal with them more easily?
I'm actually inclined towards, to some extent, to the the deal with more easily option. At least, I've noticed that BPDw is less problematic around aggressive, dominant people.

Well, I was green but blue was close. I don't like either/or tests but decided to take this anyway. I would have appreciated some middle categories because I don't think (hey, I am green!) this has enough intellectual nuance.
Green: 14
Blue: 12
Gold: 6
Orange: 4 (I am sure my ex would have a high orange and green score).

I am kind of relieved to know that I am:
Blue.
I find this interesting, because my xpwBPDbf tried to make me think that I was someone who had no compassion for his feelings... .I feel like that's all the relationship was about, his feelings! Mine were of no matter.
Blue:
compassionate,
idealistic,
affectionate,
empathetic, caring,
nurturing, a
communicator &
valuing feeling
I flourish with
encouragement
rather than
competition
I seek harmony,
warmth & romance
As a child:
I was imaginative &
creative
I scored:
15 blue
8 orange
7 gold
6 green
I revealed my full scoring for the powers that be on this site. In an effort to aid them with their monitoring of me and to help them figure me out ;o)... .

Green Didn't even have to take the test to figure that one out, but I did anyways I'm an extremely deep thinker, I can analyze things that involve psychology to the core (Not only has learning about BPD been helpful to my situation, but I'm actually really really interested in this stuff). Agnostic, yep, I tend to be open to all beliefs but look at religion as a "who knows?" kind of thing. Whoever posted about Green's and Blue's looking for the potential in someone rather than the truth of behavior, that's definitely me. I looked past way too many red flags to count with my uBPDx, because I saw so much potential in her to be a good and happy person. I still do, I don't look at her as evil, I look at her as a sick person that may never realize her own potential. I'm very good at getting people to open up and motivating them to become better people, to guide them in the right direction and let them take the reins from there. I guess that characteristic is what lead to the parent/child dynamic of my relationship with my uBPDx, this is something I've worked on and have improved on controlling a lot. Interesting test to say the least.

Hey, Skippy. I stopped trying to complete this test. I understand the reasoning of "forced choices." One of my favorite personality tools, the Enneagram, uses the same technique. But there were simply too many instances on this test where my answers would be equally A and B. So, choosing one or the other would not result in a true picture of me.
My claim of equal A and B answers has been validated in other tests. For example, my dosha balanace is even Vata-Pitta-Kapha. I checked with an Ayurvedic physician, and this is not only possible, but I'm one of them!
I am neither right-, nor left-brained. I am both-brained.
I am an ENFP, but there are times at parties, when I am happiest to be sitting in a quiet corner, having an intense, usually philosophical, conversation. Go figure.
I have often wished for "everything" to be as easily defined as Blue, Green, etc. But alas! In my experience it's not. (That's why finding the detail about BPD behaviors and their thinking processes has been such a Godsend for me.

Blue 14 Green 13 Gold 5 Yellow 4 Oh how absolutely dull to be just like everyone else! But really, I had the same frustration in many of the questions where I felt I was equally both. And I am an ENFP. Well there you have it. Me in a nutshell.

Blue then green.
Noticed that most of us here are blue followed by green which is different than rest of the population. Is this what makes us codependents?

Has anyone purchased the materials suggested to learn more?
And I'm blue followed by green.

Just be advised, that this site REQUIRES cookies on when a quiz is taken. This may release personally identifiable information which could result in you being added to marketing mailing listings.
(Im not expert in how this works, but its maddening to try to keep personal info confidential these days and having flyers arrive at my house on how to manage 'high conflict relationships' is not helping the conflict one bit. Ironic isnt it.

When I clicked the link, I didn't get a 'colors' quiz. Or rather, the results didn't give me any colors.
I'm confused. I'm apparently a 'Thinker', so I don't think this is the right quiz.
