Thank you for all the prompt responses to my distress.

I just want to ask a question about a slightly different topic.

That time between emotional bombardments.

At least in my case, the individuals with BPD are not in daily contact, when they do appear it is like this bomber has been hovering over the house and dropped this emotional bombshell on our home.  During the quiet times there is always part of me listening for their next approach.

So even if we are thankfully "cut off" by them, there is this underlying stress.

Cause suddenly here they come! (screwing up the Holidays being a favorite, or better yet insisting that they be invited for the Holidays and then not showing up.) It is my responsibility to somehow stop this internal anxiety... .

Anyone thoughts on this?

It's hard to truly relax between rages--I know that "waiting for the next approach" feeling all too well.   There are ways to deal with the rages and protect yourself, and sometimes when things are quiet, that's the best time to really read up on BPD and practice the tools that can help you deal with the rages.

It is, but you don't need to do it alone. There are excellent tools and resources that can help you work on that internal anxiety. What have you tried so far? Are you still in counseling? Therapy, along with what I've learned here and through a lot of reading, has really helped me to calm that anxiety.

No I'm not in therapy, yes I reluctantly admit that will have to occur.

But just reading writing here is such a relief.

Back in 1987, my first encounter with BPD there was no such internet community to talk to and it was very isolating.

Also few people know about it then.

I really appreciate this place.
