How to communicate after a contentious divorce... Following a contentious divorce and custody battle, there are often high emotion and tensions between the parents. My wife has agreed to go to couples therapy with me, though it seems that her reluctance is slowly  increasing.  In any case, she wants to read a self-help book/workbook together that will help us address and work on issues in our marriage and improve communication.  I fear that she is just wanting to control the dialog and afraid of outside influences, but I have agreed to do this with her and will try to keep an open mind about it.

Does anyone have any recommendations about this?  I don't really want to get anything BPD specific as I want to avoid bringing up my amateur diagnosis with her.  I'm hoping couples therapy will be the impetus for her to address her personal issues, but we'll see.

thanks.
