Hello
I have a 16 year old daughter, M who has BPD. This
condition has caused incredible stress in our home. I also have a 15 year old daughter who is being treated for possible bipolar disorder.
We have 2 wonderful dogs
I have the most supporting husband who is doing everything he can to keep things calm in our home.
M is currently under the care of a psychiatrist and she sees a therapist for dbt. She also suffers with major depression.
I am also not well. I suffer with chronic daily migraines and hyperacusis, which is extreme sensitivity to sound. I am also being treated for depression.

Hi jackroth6 and
I'm sorry to hear that you are living with the stress of two daughters with illnesses. Your own health issues must also had to your stress. You've come to the right place to get some support and some information.
One thing I've learned from being on this site is that when a child suffers from BPD, everyone who loves them is affected. There is lots of drama and heartbreak, as well as guilt and anxiety. A great place to start is with these resources:
What can a parent do?
. It's good that your daughter is in the care of a psychiatrist and a DBT therapist, but her behaviour likely still is a strain on your family environment.
I also suggest you read and post on the
Parenting a Son or Daughter Suffering from BPD board
. You'll find great senior members there who will give you ideas and support as you navigate the challenges.
Welcome aboard!

Hello, jackroth6 & I'd like to join
NorthernGirl
in welcoming you to this site
I'm am very sorry that things are so difficult for you... .Your husband sounds very supportive, and that is fortunate. Two teenaged daughters with troubles can be so stressful, and even moreso when you have health issues yourself. Please take care of yourself; sometimes the most important step in making things better is starting with that... .
How are things today?
Can you tell us more of your story, so we can help?
I wish you well, and we would all like to be there for you, jackroth6

Hi Jackroth6,
I sure wish you were in my area (Minneapolis/St Paul) because I would love to meet you for lunch or coffee and offer my support! You truly are not alone!
My 15 year old DD has BPD, depression, anxiety, ptsd, multiple hospitalizations, past residential treatment, and STILL struggles. My 12 year old is also showing symptoms of illness, though I'm certain she is stronger in some ways than her older sister. My youngers seems more bipolar than BPD to me.
I know what its like to be depressed by dealing with all of this. It makes me so very depressed too. I'm sorry you're going through this.

Dear jackroth6
I want to welcome you here and tell you how sorry I am for your struggles. I am glad your dd16 is seeking help. That really is good news for all. I know when I found this site 2 years ago things were really hard for my dd17 and our whole family. I really have gotten so much support and help here. It helps to post a question and get advise if you are struggling with a problem but know we understand and we are here for you.
