First night in "therapeutic separation" last night. Feeling positive.

I decided that my husband and I need a "break" from each other to heal and work on ourselves. This, after 2 weeks that he was out of our home after crossing a boundary I had in place. I came up with the idea to rent a room for a few months elsewhere and each take a week "shift" so that we get time to ourselves as well as give our daughter time with both of us while we each work on ourselves. I took the first shift this week and moved to the room yesterday, with last night being the first night there.
Although I felt very sick to my stomach yesterday while packing and moving my stuff, I know this is the right thing. I want to be there for him as a supportive and compassionate wife that I am, but I know that right now, I am just too easily triggered as is he.
First night was good. It's a quiet home and I slept no worse or better than I have been at home for the past 2 weeks... .

Hey Michelle27, Great progress! You may find, as I did, that it is nice to come home at night to a peaceful atmosphere. I discovered that I enjoyed "boring" nights without drama! LuckyJim

I can relate to this. It took me a bit of time to get used to it, but once I'n home, the door is locked and I felt safe. It is lovely :-)

That is exactly why I need to do this. To feel safe again in my own home. And to be fair to him, who also wants to be less triggered and therefore, also feel safe. :-)
