Is there a "typical" amount of time for someone to stay "split" in one direction or another?

Or is it pretty much that once they split in one direction (to the bad) that they stay there forever?

I've heard that pwBPD tend to all of a sudden split back in the "good" direction (not that it's healthy or anything) and then all of a sudden are like "hey... .what are you all doing for x holiday?" instead of continuing the grudge they were keeping.

Is this consistent or not based on your experience?

Hi TDeer,

Splitting is one of the most difficult behaviours I experienced as a child from my uBPDm. It is soo very hard. What is your experience about this topic?

I think that there will be many varying answers to this question as each pwBPD is unique, even though they have similar characteristics generally. For example, my uBPDm would regularly split, every few weeks from what I recall. Then she'd pop back into 'normal mom,' whoever that mom was. Then she had her 'naughty and nice list,' which people would come off but hardly ever go back on.

Does your family member with BPD do this regularly, the splitting? What do you notice about It?
