IS THERE A HOTLINE FOR NON BPD'S TO CALL? My BPDbf is not in treatment. He shows perfect textbook signs of BPD and has more than half of the symptoms that qualify to be a BPD and more. I have almost fully given up and wanna call the relationship to a end because i don't want it to interfere in my life again. I was wondering if they had a hotline for people without BPD to call to figure out how we should respond to there behaviors. Mainly Gaslighting, Splitting, lying, and manipulating. Is there a book or website to help handle those types of situations, without falling into their trips or making the situation worse.

I would say that this board is the absolute best at finding the help for how you can respond to your pwBPD. WE have a whole section of books that can help you. Book Club . Some of the most popular are Stop Walking on Egg Shells and  I Hate You Don't Leave Me. One of my personal favorites is Boundaries.

It is difficult to get a forced diagnosis. If your pwBPD is suicidal it might be possible to get her commited for a brief period, but usually that is just for 72 hours. There is no guarantee of a diagnosis. Getting a diagnosis will not necessarily change things though. What will help is for you to begin focusing on how you can best respond and react to your pwBPD. This will help you find peace and clarity in your relationship.

As for hotlines, there are none available. SOmetimes the national abuse hotline can help in domestic violence situations. Most treatment comes from finding local counselors, especially counselors that specialize in DBT therapy and/or personality disorders. Is your bf willing to get help?

Let me second Tattered Heart's book recommendations.  If you only read one book, it should probably be the classic, Stop Walking on Eggshells.  I also read I Hate You Don't Leave Me, which was my introduction to BPD, and I found it helpful.  I've actually just ordered Boundaries (I'm assuming Tattered Heart is referring to the book by Cloud and Townsend).
