I suppose I’m showing my age by reaching back to Bob Dylan, but this is the song that captures it for me.
Words and music. A few lines of poetry that express the mix of defiance and self doubt that would otherwise take a short essay to convey.
“I can handle whatever I stumble upon, I don’t even notice she’s gone ... .most of the time”.

I played this a lot given my emotions over my ex. Sia has a better voice than Sharon (more Within Temptation), but this video isn't depressing like the original, but the opposite:
https://youtu.be/K1njYUrHkww
I wish they'd played it when S8 and I saw them last year.

Hello, everyone! I’ve got some catching up to do here! I’m glad to see that music has an impact on us. Great writers can capture and express similar things that we have felt or are feeling. The participation here is great!

Glad you chimed in
Star0009
.
It was actually written about Kurt Cobain but it explains so much how I've always felt. Kurt Cobain and Nirvana is actually very soothing to me even as an adult dealing with this stuff because I connect with his pain and rebellion even now.
IMHO, this was a great era for Rock n’ Roll. It was labeled “Grunge”, but it was Rock. My musical preferences have changed since then, but I still have my days when I’m doing my my cooking, cleaning, etc. that I want to listen to some old school stuff. Thanks for sharing this.
This Cat Power song relates to the fact I was being abused secretly and still got picked on yet still want to please everyone and even wanted my bullies to like me and extended family who still snub and bully me me to let me in and they have no idea what I've been through. I was also taught by my Mom not to have a voice and to "be nice" to everyone and put their needs first and by my grandmother to come to take care of my Mom and sibling and come to these big parties where they ignored my abuse and abused me more.
You’re a victim of covert abuse, but you have survived it. Unscathed, no. But,
YOU ARE A SURVIVOR!
Star0009
, lets leave this open for a better and more appropriate thread, but you showing up here and participating/contributing is a good thing. It’s a great sign to
yourself
that you desire a change of direction.

gotbushels
, back at ya!
Don't let it go like this
Probably one of the most torturous feelings I’ve ever felt when it came to the little family. I’m beginning to think that our little family needs to be very separate so I’m capable of being the best parent I can be. I know that my comment isn’t a
PSI
contribution, but that’s what came to mind upon the lyrics.
What is Love... .I’m beginning to view love through a different scope. It’s responsibility in the fact that another person is making themselves vulnerable. That responsibility entails me being healthy/sound enough to accept it if I’m a willing partner.
I’ve been reading a lot on what a staff member has to say on things like this and it really has me thinking lately. Values and boundaries. One should perpetuate the other and both come down to self worth.
Sorry for getting off track here.

Feeling Better
, I’ve heard that song in passing, but I’ve pretty much cut out TV and commercial radio for a while. I like this song a lot!
Do you ever wonder how a person that hasn’t been in our situations might hear it? I’m not minimizing it, it’s pure curiosity of how someone that hasn’t been through what we have might interpret the words. I hear it in a similar way to you.

, I’m a big Dylan fan. This may sound bad, but I saw my first, and thus far only, Dylan concert on the evening of my dad’s passing. Obviously it wasn’t planned that way, ordering tickets, but it was ironic. It was my Sis and I and our partners at the time.
“Shelter From the Storm” into “Idiot Wind” make me think. Thanks for bringing him into the thread. Bob Dylan is ageless.

Turkish
, this is a great band. They are well rehearsed. Not just in their music, but their stage performance. They choreograph. Choreography has always bothered me when it comes to live performance when it comes to live bands. The music is happening in the “here and now”. I guess that I just never got why there needed to be a dance troop on stage to give a listening experience. When there is one “front person” in charge of what is supposed to be a collective, it never ends well.
