Hello family. I want to share some thoughts with you
I feel like so much of what we and our children go through is what mythologist Joseph Campbell called the hero's journey, so hard and yet so important. So I want to share the last text I sent my son.Just a thought. Here goes.(background info my dad was an amazing tenor who also had mental health issues)

Your grandfather and my dad sang the lead role in Man of la Mancha at a local production. He worked so hard on it. I wish you could have heard him sing back in the day.  He was so amazing.  When I met your dad I saw Don Quixote was his patron saint. Such a connection. The day you were born I know there was a risk. Your birth was not easy and your life isn't always easy either. But I will always have faith that no matter what and in your own way you will reach the impossible star. I believe in you.

Thanks for sharing that, FHLKC, it's a lovely note to your son. You are on his side, accepting him for him, cheering him on, and supporting his growth - in whatever form that takes.

Just lovely.
