Help!

For as long as I could remember my sister displayed some issues however we never knew what it was until I started researching the last couple weeks and came across BPD and it fit her to the tee. She's been up and down before and struggled in the past but not like this.  She seems depressed, won't come out of her room, the house in unkempt, she rages at her husband often, cries at the drop of a dime. My mom is in from another state to help her because she attempted suicide.  We don't know what to do? How are we supposed to help her? She seems to live in an alternate reality. She knows she isn't 'safe' but won't go for therapy. We tried to get her to do yoga or mindfulness and she will do it just for a bit and then stop. Any suggestions?

Hi and welcome!

I am sorry to hear that your sister is struggling so much.  Suicide attempts are so hard for everyone to deal with.  How are you doing?  Trying to support your sister is wonderful and it can also be exhausting and difficult.

Can you tell us more about what happened after her suicide attempt?  Was she hospitalized?  If so, was a treatment plan recommended?

It is hard to help someone break through the depression and get to the point where they want to take action.
