Hi VikesFam4ev,

I don't live in Florida, but you might try looking at your county court's website.  Where I live we can go on the county court site and they have a self-help/form section you might also call the court, they can help you with procedural questions but can not give you legal advice.

Do you plan on hiring an attorney or doing your own divorce?
Do you have kids or property?
How long were you together?

As far as I know, they are going to want an original signed document.

Everything is pretty much originals, some with notary and witnesses, etc.

You can get the forms online and have them ready of course.

Hi Panda39,
 Thank you so much for your response. To answer the questions mentioned, we have no children under 18, been married almost 20 years, and there is no property or assets to be designated to either of us.
I am going to inquire online, with the county clerk of courts, to obtain additional information.

A friend referred me to this site, for which I am very grateful!
 I am very determined to get healthy, especially mentally and emotionally. I have dealt with trauma, abuse, and neglect, and work in each day, with The Lord as my strength, to learn as much as I can.  Thank you!

Hi VikesFam4ev;

In addition to panda39's recommendation, sites like expertlaw.com and avvo.com offer free legal advice (though not necessarily from lawyers). You could try posting a question like "Divorce in X County Florida: forms online or in person?" and see what folks have to say.

Glad your friend sent you here, but sorry for the circumstances.

Hang in there, and post whenever you need some support;

kells76

P.S. Also, some lawyers offer free or reduced-price initial consultations. Sometimes, if you're a first-time prospective client, they'll answer quite a few questions over the phone -- no retainer. Worth a try calling a few L's in your area and describing your situation.
