seems like there will be no help for her. she is 26 and lazy. i can't continue to watch or allow her abuse of my parents. i'm 21 and have been watching this for 15+ years and it's ruined a lot of parts of me. i'm in therapy and its not everyday something happens but when there's an outburst or situation its just another reminder that after she drains my parents and they die, it will just be me with horrible memories of growing up, limited time with my parents, etc. and the scars that her behavior and their enabling of it has caused. i don't know how to trust and have normal interactions and i don't know how to live my own life/leave my parents behind. I do need to remove myself from the situation but i would like guidance and some positive outlook from someone who has been through similar situations.

Hi jigsaw1124!  Welcome new member (click to insert in post) Glad you're here! Your situation sounds overwhelming, for sure.

i don't know how to live my own life/leave my parents behind

Even in healthy families the transition of moving out and developing an independent adult life can be daunting, but it sounds like you have some pretty big concerns. Would your parents support you if you decided to live independently? Do they understand how you feel about your sister?

We would love to hear more about what's going on if you want to share. This board is full of people that have overcome difficult dynamics and learned better ways of relating. There is hope.

Hi jigsaw1124,

Joining pursuingJoy in welcoming you to our online community Welcome new member (click to insert in post)

I am very sorry that your sister's behavior, has so greatly and negatively affected your family situation. You mention her abuse of your parents. In what ways does your sister abuse your parents?

How do your parents view your sister's behavior?

You also mention your sister being lazy, in what ways does that show?

Take care Virtual hug (click to insert in post)
