Hi, I’ve lived with this maniac for 37 years. He used to rage at the kids and now it’s me. His rage outbursts go from 0 to 60 in literally a second. He’s awakened me in the middle of the night to scream at me. Over the past year after a particularly bad episode, his doctor and I convinced him to go on Cymbalta. It made a world of difference. Two nights ago I asked him to review a paper. He returned it back to me with changes but they were out of sequence. God help me for doing that. He slammed down his laptop, screamed at me and called me every name in the book. I found out today he’s gone OFF the med. I heard him giving his medical history on the phone and told whomever that he stopped taking it.
What do I do? If I ask him, he’ll scream. Let the walking on eggshells commence.

hi W632944, and Welcome

i feel your frustration!

can you tell us some more history? it will help. 37 years is a long time.

what happened when he reviewed the paper? what did you say? what did he say?

what is it you want to ask him, regarding the meds?

Thanks. I skipped a part. When I read what he had changed, I asked him why he changed the sequence of events and that’s when he blew up. Just a simple question. He is incapable of having a normal conversation or response. As I said the antidepressants made him so much calmer. I want to know why he stopped them and why he lied to me about taking them. But I’ll get screamed at if I ask. Oh there has been so much in 37 years...lies, gaslighting, affairs, you name it. I’ve reached a breaking point.
