Looks like dad had to set the car seat down, the mother wouldn't even let dad hand it over.  And because it came from dad, it too had to be rejected.  Didn't matter that it was just an inanimate thing.  Even if it was a nice gesture by dad, it came from dad.

And the older child probably saw it unfold too.

And the guy on the street busy on his phone quickly left when it got dicey, he wanted no part of it.

The mother also stood in the middle of the busy street with the baby. Not a good look.
