Meds and fears

So my husband isn’t diagnosed but everyone who knows him believes he has BPd. He is taking anti depressants and they have had some bad results. He has been more irritable, more angry and also not great at processing or retaining info. He has realized this and is working on switching meds but it’s going to take 4 weeks. Last week got so bad we separated for a night which we have never done. Even though he was the first one to leave, he was upset that I went to my Parents house with the kids. So much so that he wrote both sets of parents asking them to not allow us to do that. They do not intend to agree to that. But none of us have actually told him that. I am so anxious all the time waiting for it to blow up again. Trying to wait out the 4 weeks to see how much better it gets with new meds

Hi Dancer and welcome! If your H has BPD, there is no med that will fix that. You can go through some of the threads on this board and read about the kinds of treatment that work and don't work. However, many people with BPD also suffer from depression, and meds can help somewhat.
Responses to anti-depressants are very different from one person to the next. It's unfortunate that the one he's trying isn't working well, but that isn't uncommon. Many people go through 2 or 3 before they find one that suits them. I have a step-daughter with BPD who's been on at least half a dozen anti-depressants before getting one that she could tolerate. I'm sure there are others here who can tell you they've had the same experience.
