You have pointed out what one of my friends did: that there will be a more permanent memorial to my cousin at his home. This is probably more fitting, as I am the type of person you can count on. I try to remember people who are grieving over terrible losses for years and to comfort the grieving when everybody else has forgotten them, and they feel very alone in their grief.
I am not going to the funeral. It would be the lion's den/viper's nest for me where I would be scapegoated by narcissistic family members.
