Any research done on ghosting?

Was just curious if there has been any research done on when bpd’s thoughts when they ghost you? I used to beg and plead for forgiveness and now I actually enjoy it when my wife locks herself in. It’s a lot quieter but was wondering what actually goes in their minds when they do that? Are they punishing us according to them?
