BPD and bipolar disorder
«

My mom has been diagnosed by her psychiatrist with bipolar disorder. I'm certain she has uBPD. After reading a lot of the information and posts on this site, I realize that the two disorders frequently travel together. I'm just wondering if anyone else has a family member with both disorders and how you think their behavior may be different from a person with BPD alone. Thanks!

My mom has also been diagnosed with bipolar, but I'm certain she also has BPD. I think the bipolar contributes a lot to the ups and down.
Her ups are few and far between, and they only last for a few days. When she is up she has so much energy and is so chatty and she texts me these long rambling excited/happy texts.
When she is down, however she is mean and nasty, and a total drag. She can ruin the entire mood of a get together in 2 minutes flat. She also lashes out a lot, mostly at my dad and myself.
I find the ups to be pretty freaky, honestly. Sometimes it's like she's on drugs
