Question about Psychiatrist's method

Hi there,

I'm not sure if anyone can come up with some answers on this but here goes.

My dBPDw who has been living separately since Dec of last year a couple of weeks ago asked to stay at our home for the weekend

because she was "being harassed at her apartment building", I agreed to let her come over and our daughter took off to her grandmothers place to avoid

the dBPDw , the dBPw was very upset by this and said she would go to a shelter i9nstead, but did not, dBPdW managed to get me to let her know

that I believed we were heading for a divorce, at about midnight I went to bed and at 330am I awoke to her hitting the floor from  an overdose, I called 911,

and the medical people handled it.

After this my daughter wrote to dBPDw`s psychiatrist to tell her that she wished for little or no contact with her mother, and described some of the

`stuff`that had gone on over the years.

Apparently the DR. has shared this with dBPDw, and dBPDw thinks we will be looking for a restraining order against her.

Any ideas on what the DR hopes to accomplish with this.

Talking to the pwBPD about it (it being what your daughter said). what was purpose... . presumably to confront her (pwBPD) and get her to talk about whatever your daughter had said, what else is the DR supposed to do with the information? Was your daughter expecting the DR to just use the information discretely?

If a psychiatrist was approached by a family member and they said she did x,y,z... . I would expect the DR to then say... . "I was approached by a family member who said you did x,y,z... . is it true? Why did you do that? ... . etc."

Your topic was a question about the DR's method... . what was your expectation? The DR is supposed to maintain DR+patient confidentiality, but your daughter isn't the patient... . and unless the daughter said "and don't tell her I told you"... . which would raise questions from the DR... . I can't see what else the DR could do.
