I'm Lucky

... . That's right, I'm lucky.
Had a good day today, even though it's the beginning of S.A.D. (seasonal affective disorder) season.
Nearly killed us both the last two years. So if you have a significant other w/BPD, watch out!
And Valentine's Day is right around the corner.
Be very careful around this time of year.
All year long, for that matter... .
I decided that I was looking at this entirely the wrong way.
Someone recently told me that if I stuck around much longer
I could be doing 5-10 years of false charges.
I got out in the nick of time.
Another person told me. "I have only known you for two hours,
but you really have to move on with your life.
You are only on Earth for a little while."
So, you see,
I'm going back to who I used to be.
I gave up so much,
for her charade
The way I look at it now
She was just visiting... .
I'm lucky, that's right.
Im lucky.
I've copped a whole new attitude.
I'm lucky... .
... . I survived.

The 5-10 years for false charges is spot on. I'm convinced that if I kept messing with this girl I would have wound up in jail for some bs. There's no way I'm going to let that happen. I'm going to avoid her like the plague.
Nobody cares how pretty your ex girlfriend is or how much she flattered you for the first few months when you're locked up.

Great news, oblivian, I'm glad you are seeing this as a positive.
These days I've been thinking the same thing: I'm only here for a limited time, so I want to spend that precious time with people who love and respect me. I just don't have time for shenanigans and their repercussions anymore.
You are lucky, and I'm glad you are here.

Great post oblivian! Great reminder that we only get one life to live and we have to choose what we will fill this life with. Awesome attitude.

I also needed to read that so thanks. It's true, we have one life to live and I can't imagine spending another minute with a person who made me so miserable.
Also about the 5-10 years, that hit home. My ex boyfriend used the police on three occassions. Mind you this was all when he was the one on probation for drugs and I could have slaughtered him so many times. Of course, I'm not that raging of a vindictive human being. The last straw he pulled was filing a false claim to CPS which I've posted here many times that I leave my kid at home for several hours (which is what his parents did to him along with physically abuse him as a child.) My best friend said to me "
this is now a tool in his arsenal and he will use it again the next time he gets mad at you!"
So so so so true. Thank God we all got out when we did!
