It's been over 3 years now since my traumatic encounter with my exBPD. It's still hard to think about and talk about. I am reminded of it constantly. I went to a therapist a few months ago and we did some exposure therapy for PTSD. That made things worse. Now I'm taking pills and don't feel the same. I'm not sure what to do. Why won't these feelings go away? Why am I still feeling the effects from that horrible person?

Hi there welcome back.   I wish it was going better for you.  I read thru your background a bit and I just have to say that the guns, threats, suicide threats and the overall abuse would do a number on anyone.

It's good you are seeing a therapist for the trauma.  Is this the first time you are seeing someone for this?  Have you talked to the therapist about how you are feeling since the visit?

I know when I first started going it was very difficult for me to rehash all the events that occured.  i had a started to have panic attacks - one while driving just getting text messages from the ex and after I had started therapy.  For about a year and a half after I struggled with fear of this person reentering my life.

It was like a festering wound where I had to pick off the scab to let the deeper infection drain before it got better and started to heal properly.  It was just abcessing.  It was no picnic for sure.  It did get better with time but time alone wasn't really helping.

Where you feeling better before the sessions?

What is going on since the visit?

Hi TWBR, Sorry to hear what you have been through.  If I can make one suggestion, it might be to sit with your feelings and just observe them, without the need to judge or act on them.  Just pay attention to your feelings and see if you can identify them.  Stop if you feel uncomfortable.  If you try this exercise a few times, you might experience some relief.

Hang in there,

Thanks Jim. That's really good advice and a lot easier for me to do than meditating.
