Before you can make things better, you have to stop making them worse... Have you considered that being critical, judgmental, or invalidating toward the other parent, no matter what she or he just did will only make matters worse? Someone has to be do something. This means finding the motivation to stop making things worse, learning how to interrupt your own negative responses, body language, facial expressions, voice tone, and learning how to inhibit your urges to do things that you later realize are contributing to the tensions.

The day my exBPDgf moved out I was really broken. So I went to a counselor to talk out my feelings. The counselor wasn't the best but she had worked with BPD's extensively. What she said really stuck with me. She looked me right in the eye and said "some girls are crazy, and some girls are f**king crazy. And girls with BPD are f**king crazy!" She then went on to tell me I was dodging a huge bullet and to run as far away from this girl as possible. She also told me they never get better and told me stories about children of BPD children and how messed up they are (I am actually one of them).

Even though this happened more than 2 months ago it has still stuck with me and helps me get through it knowing that I dodged a "bullet"

Good for you!

I was married 24 years to a uBPD+dOCD, the marriage was hell and the divorce wasn't much better.  My life is so much better without her, and yours will be too.

Good Luc Brudda!

Its rough. Your head tells you that you dodged a bullet and are better off, but your heart needs to catch up. This is where Im at now. Im getting so much better and am learning each day to think with me head, not my heart. Slowly shes being pushed aside... .

Forestaken: thank you! thanks for the pick me up.

Deeno02: In my head I know she is not emotionally stable or mentally healthy at all. But of course my heart is still longing for what I thought was the "real her". The way she looked at me and told me she NEEDED me in her life…gots me all kind of confused when she left days later and cut me off. but in my head I know I dodged a bullet. I honestly don't think I could have lived the rest of my life with that crazy beautiful creature. Gotta learn to push her aside like you are

Hey antonio, Your counselor gave you some good advice.  Glad you are taking it!  I was married to a pwBPD for 16 years, so I should know.  A BPD r/s doesn't get better and, in fact, can get significiantly worse, in my experience.  The b/u is hard, I know, but I'm here to confirm that it gets better.  LuckyJim
