How like a child...

I've been separated from my dBPDw for 9 months and have started a divorce petition, but we're both still trying to maintain calmness during this transitional time.
She's very much in denial that I'm moving forward with divorce and trying so hard to be sweet and loving. She spent all day yesterday making several favorite dishes for Easter dinner at her sister's place. I was glad to be invited for what will likely be one of the last times I'll get to hang out with her side of the family. So hard to think about breaking ties with in-laws whom I love - including treasured nieces and nephews. All of my kids were there enjoying time with their cousins. It was such a pleasant evening. My stbx even drove my youngest son and me back to our apartment at the end of the evening. We took the leftovers inside, and then I walked her back out to her car. She put her arm around my waist and placed her head on my shoulder, and I was hesitant because I so do not want to get her hopes up or send her the wrong signals. Fortunately the closeness was only for a moment.
I've told her clearly that I'm pursuing divorce, but she's so like a child in her hope for reconciliation. It's one of the qualities that I both admire and have the hardest time with. Her childlike nature is what can send her into rages, but it's also what makes her so sweet and loving. Talk about a roller coaster of insanity all the time.
Deep sigh... .

It is what it is. :'( And often the right decisions are the toughest ones.

We usually text daily. Mostly about our minor son. And then I see her once or twice a week.
