Current Alimony and upcoming pension
«
on:
September 04, 2015, 08:36:26 AM »
Background- Me: 24 years married (divorced May 2014), government worker for 30+ years, age: 50's, paying xW $1800/month alimony - left "changeable", she will also get about 35% of my pension ($1300 of $3700/month) upon my retirement from government work. (along with $28,000 from my 401k)
I have an opportunity to retire from the government and move to slightly lower paying job.
Questions:
(1) By her getting $1300 month from my pension - what are the chances of reducing alimony payments?
(2) With my government retirement, I will net more income although my working salary has decreased. How will all of this impact my alimony payments?

I can't answer your question on alimony vs pension but ...
What is the cost for an attorney ? Possibly a different one from who you had for the divorce.
Thats outrageous what you have to pay in alimony. You should not have to pay any. She does not need to support young children. She should have imputed income and she had plenty of time to get her stuff together to get a job.
My xh is taking me to a trial because he does not want to pay any c/s... 525 for two kids, ( I pay the medical, then a certain amount of medical expenses and 60% after. I buy and pay for phones, clothes, shoes, activities, etc. )... .and he wants a lump sum past spousal support from me and not pay 4k in back support... which is mostly medical and dental.
This is post divorce, post settlement , post his hearing for modification of support.
So you might have to go though more litigation. $$.
