Hi Everyone,

Just wanted to introduce myself. I have an 18 year old daughter who has BPD. It has really presented in the last year with 3 suicide attempts, the last one being last week.

I'm starting to set boundaries which I think is what promoted the last attempt. I am the focus of her abandonment issues, and it's really taken a toll on my mentally, emotionally and physically. I'd like to know if there are places like halfway houses for these kiddos. I'm in the Dallas area. Once she gets out of treatment, I've set the boundary that she will not live with me. She and her dad barely speak, so that's not a solution.

Thank you for your support. I'm so glad I found you guys!

Hi Swimmin,

I'm glad you found us too! 18 is a tough age for a lot of kids, the transition to independence can be such a steep cliff. And what you've been through would test any mama's mental, emotional, and physical health.

How is your D doing at the moment? What kind of treatment is she in?

Hi Swimmin,

So glad you decided to introduce yourself and talk about your daughter with us.   I don't know of any supervised living for adults with BPD.  If she is in a dual diagnoses treatment program she could maybe go to a sober living facility.

Is that the case?
