I don't understand why BPDs are "control freaks" and always feel the need to be in control - it seems a lot of the reason why they manipulate people is to have the upper hand. Could anyone explain this to me?

BPDs have poor emotional regulation. So if something doesn't go their way, or the way they wanted, or the way they expected, then this causes an emotional response. Nons will be able to deal with this - BPDs can't. So to prevent an undesireable emotion, they control the situation.

Got it. Makes perfect sense. Thanks!
