Hi Sally1! Welcome!

So glad you've joined us to share your story of your hurts, pains, sadness, and the challenges you may encounter as you learn to understand the effects of BPD upon your life. There are so many others here who are able to understand as well. We are all in the healing journey from being touched by someone with BPD in our lives.

I'm in my 50s, and I've not been on the journey for too long. Yet I've come so far in my healing with the help of books, this site, and T.  Did you feel relieved to discover what you think has been going on with your mom for so long? I was scared at first to realize that I found what sounded just like my mom as I studied psychology in a college class in 2010. How did you discover BPD?

A great place to start is by reading in the list on the right, first at the very top about 'What is BPD' and then reading on down through some of the other points. Also read posts here that may resonate with you. Use caution so that you don't overwhelm yourself. Some topics you won't be ready to read yet, and you can save those for later. We are all at various places in our journey to healing and of discovery. It is totally fine wherever you are right now.  Doing the right thing (click to insert in post) I found that the discovery process was quite shocking and challenging. How has it been for you so far?

I look forward to hearing your responses as to where you think you are in the list on the right. It is not linear, and most of us go up and down the list and then come back to some previous steps as we keep going forward to healing. Sometimes you will sit and stay at a point for a while as you ponder and find new memories coming back. Click on the words and there is some reading that will come up for you.

Please stay in touch!

Hi sally1 and welcome to our online community

Having a disordered parent really isn't an easy thing to deal with. How did you discover what is going on with your mother?

You mention having suffered so long from your mother's switches. I am very sorry your mother has affected you this way. Woolspinner2000 has pointed you to some great material to help you get started here.

You find yourself dealing with all the wounds, that is though indeed. What would you say is your biggest pain right now? What is hurting you the most and/or what do you find yourself struggling with the most?

Take care
