How to Remain Confident

Hi, my mom has BPD. It has gotten worse since her last child moved out. Every time she confronts one of us I am riddled with anxiety and my confidence goes out the window. It's like I lose all my skills that I've learned through researching this disorder. Any suggestions?

Many of our members have also struggled with anxiety. Having a parent with BPD can be very challenging and stressful indeed. Something that might help you stay more calm and in the present is mindfulness/meditation, have you perhaps ever practiced this?

You say your mother's behavior has gotten worse since her last child moved out. How long ago was that and could you give us some examples of the things she does? What would you say are her most difficult or disturbing behaviors?
