Hello everyone,
Ive been having flashbacks and dreams about my mother lately. I suddenly remember things about my mother touching me.
My dreams are so nasty,I can barely explain them. They are clear, realistic sex dreams with my mom. How can i stop these thoughts and dreams?

Hi Suesboy,
I can imagine how this is disturbing to you. Do you think there is any validity here, like you may be remembering real events?

Hi Suesboy,
I too can definitely see why you would find these flashbacks and dreams quite disturbing. Did anything happen perhaps that seemed to trigger these flashbacks and dreams?
How is your relationship with your mother now? Aside from what you see in those flashbacks and dreams, how would you classify your mother's general behavior? Do you feel that in her day to day treatment of you there is anything inappropriate?
What you are going through isn't easy. Are you perhaps seeing a therapist to help you make sense of this?
Take care and I hope to read more of your story later

Hi Suesboy and welcome. It is good that you posted. What you are experiencing is pretty heavy stuff and is not something you need to deal with alone. We can at least listen. I have experienced mother daughter incest and have discussed it on this board quite a bit and have received nothing but support and understanding. Honestly, I don't think there is anything you can write about that someone can't relate to or at least be able to help you work through.
I do think that if you can you could benefit from therapy. It has been my experience that the support I get here is most helpful when combined with the work I do with my psychologist. For a long time though, I was not in a position to go to therapy and I did very well discussing things here.
One more thing I want to mention is that often we will experience flashbacks and memories will surface when we are able to deal with them and work them through. It may sound counterintuitive because the memories, dreams, flashbacks can be so very upsetting and unsettling, but more often than not it is true.
I hope you come back and read these responses and consider posting more of your story as you feel comfortable. We can offer you support and understanding.
Be well.
