Hi there, I'm a mom to two daughters, one 12.5 years, and one 10 years old. My husband and I have been working with our eldest to manage her emotions for several years now to varying degrees of success. Sadly we are in one of those less successful phases. We reached out to her therapist today and it was suggested that we start her in DBT therapy. We're looking for providers near us, and in the mean time, I found this page. Hopefully this group will be a place to find support, resources, and friendship from those who are also walking this path.

Hello MomInMi... .and welcome!

Indeed, you have hit upon the right spot "to find support, resources and friendship from those who are also walking this path."   While having a therapist/counsellor/psychiatrist/etc. working with you is important, it is nice to be heard by others who are experiencing similar problems with their troubled children.  It is gratifying to know you are not alone.

So many of us on this forum struggled to make sense of what was going on with our children in the early years because the information and help just wasn't out there.  In our case, our (now 51 year old) daughter was deemed as "head strong."  Oh my, has she been "head strong"!

Once again, I welcome you MomInMi.  Hopefully you will find, by participating on this forum, the extra strength it takes to move on... .get all in the family on track.  Keep in mind that your posts are read by many... .some who could well echo your words... .your situation.  The steps you take on this journey do help to give ideas  :thought:to others.   We help each other here.
