Hi all, I'm almost 50 years old with a likely BPD half-sibling (Let's call him A) with whom I was raised who's seven years older.  Two of my cousins also have what seems like BPD, although agnosognosia prevents treatment.

I'm estranged from A but still close to my mom, who's gone to much therapy thankfully. Mom is elderly, and am going to have to deal with A again probably relatively soon to manage Mom's care and later, her estate.  Couple use some support when that time comes, but in the meantime perhaps I have wisdom to offer others struggling to deal with the condition.  As a younger person I found it almost overwhelmingly frightening, and yes I do have many of the classic so-called 'normal sibling' issues - resentment, 'frozen soul,' and similar.  Looking forward to getting to know some of you.

Hi hellebore.  I am glad you found us and decided to join in.  We have many members here who have sibling, half or otherwise, so you are in a great place to both give and receive support.

We also have people who are dealing with a BPD sibling while managing care of an elderly parent.

Anyway, share more of your story when you can.  Would love to hear more from you.

Thanks so much Harri - this seems to be a wonderful supportive place, I've been reading for a while and decided to jump in. Wish I'd known about it years ago.

As painful as it can be to revisit some of my own experiences, I had trouble finding support when struggling in the thick of a BPD family dynamic - maybe I can help someone else.

Thanks again.  <3
