Need to vent and get advice. I'm in the middle of a custody modification initiated by me at gwinnett county family court. My court date was in January and was canceled due to the ice and snow we had, it took 6 months to get that appointment. The earliest reschedule was for April 30th, on April 30th they moved it to may 4th. Yesterday we weren't reached and the court rescheduled it for July? Has anyone had this happen? Meanwhile my 5yr old daughter is being mentally and emotionally abused by her narcissistic mother. I'm about to blow my top, it's been a year and a half since I filed at superior court. my lawyer seems to be more concerned about not upsetting the person in charge of my case then pushing to be seen

I filed for more time with our boys. One of the reasons, the main reason in the petition, was that ex did not help them with their homework. Ex, through her attorney, used legal tactics to delay things. It took about 2.5 years until she ran out of options. Finally got a date that could not be extended. During that entire time I copied every homework that our boys did. I signed and dated everyone they did with me. Ex signed and dated the ones the kids did when with her. The pile was around 6 or 7 inches tall. I made a top sheet with all the information: total number of hw, number done at moms, number done at dads, percentages, etc. The boys did over 95 5% of all their homework when they were with me even though ex had majority of time during the school year. Ex never changed her behavior even though it was in my petition. It only made my case stronger. I was very upset about the delays but by the time we had an unchangeable court date and I had solid evidence, I actually had a certain sense of joy because ex helped me so much.
Document everything you can to show what the court needs to see.
I only communicate through email and assume a judge will be reading them at some point in time. I don't argue and state facts. I don't accuse even when I get a barrage of attacks, insults, etc. I don't address anything except about our kids. I use the 3 to 5 sentence rule as much as possible. I keep my emails as boring as possible and strictly on a specific topic.

Eco,

I feel your frustration, this would make me upset too, particularly with your daughter hanging out there in the wind while these extensions keep happening. It sounds like these extensions are coming from the court?  These extensions are not due to your ex.

Just remember this is a marathon not a sprint... .as frustrating as that is.
