its the holidays, and what is a joyful season for some, is often painful and isolating for the brokenhearted and those going through a breakup. some arrive here not only emotionally isolated, feeling that no one understands, but physically isolated with no nearby friends or family.
sometimes, just the knowledge that we arent alone, that someone cares and is listening can go such a long way in reducing feelings of loneliness and isolation. thats what this community is all about; thats what connects us all in ways bigger than ourselves. take the time to reach out to someone in pain, whether it be a new member, someone in a similar situation as you, or someone whom youre not quite sure what to say... .by just offering a shoulder or a hug, you may not only touch that persons life in a powerful way, but learn from them as well. one thing that ive always been grateful to this community for, is that the support i give comes back two fold.
some of us are still, or were recently in contact with an ex partner, and considering going back to the relationship. theres no shame in this - its more the norm than the exception to have unresolved feelings and try things again. it wont help however, to go underground, leave your support system, and go back into the same fragile situation without a very different plan. whether you want to test the waters, reverse the breakup, arent sure, or just want to weigh the pros and cons, there are boards that will suit your needs and can help you in ways that will make a very real difference. if you are mostly past the pain but want to dig into the lessons we can learn from our relationships and take into new ones, there is a board for that too.
at whatever stage you are in, a strong support system is critical. this holiday season, no one has to be alone in their struggles.
happy holidays and hugs from all of us here at bpdfamily.
