I'm a 58 yr old daughter of a uBPD mom. She's an 84 yr old very frail widow.
For peer support, this site and forum is amazing. I was shocked when I "landed" here and discovered there were people in the world with a mother with traits like mine. I like the way anyone can come on here 24/7 with a BPD related problem of any kind, and there will be people here who understand, validate, and have thoughts and strategies to offer for support. We all have pseudonyms so confidentiality is complete, and members can feel completely safe to tell their story. The site has as many resources (and links to resources) as one choose to read.
I live in a small town in a rural area, and while videoconferencing is available, I am too afraid of being recognized, and having confidentiality breached even accidentally via slips of the tongue. Things can happen in small towns, so I feel quite safe with the anonymity of this forum.
The support here is life changing for me, and has given me the opportunity to learn, grow, and hope that I can improve myself, let go of resentment, live my life and not the life my mother wants me to live
for her,
and find
enjoyment in life instead of stress, anxiety, and fear.
I hope you are successful and find what you are looking for.
