Newbie here, so apologies if this first post is in the wrong place or missing info.

I'm a child of a BPD and bipolar parent. My relationship with my BPD parent (nearing 70 years old) is very strained and has never been solid.

I'm over 40 now and raising my own kids, and I'm terrified I'll subject my kids to the same gaslighting, no-win situations, ultimatums, and splitting that my BPD parent inflicted on me my whole life.

I'm looking for online video support groups where I can listen to others' BPD stories and share my own.

I see a therapist every other week, which is immensely helpful for me, but my therapist and I both agreed it'd be really helpful for me to talk to other folks with loved ones suffering from BPD.

Can people share some resources they've found for this?

Many thanks.

I'm a child of a BPD and bipolar parent.

Me too.  My mom has BPD and bipolar.  I'm also over 40 and dealing with her mental illnesses as she ages.  It's tough!

As for peer support, this site has been really helpful.  I also go to a local NAMI support group called family to family.  It's on hiatus right now due to COVID, but I think in some places NAMI might have videoconferencing set up.  I'd suggest checking their website: www.nami.org

I'm a 58 yr old daughter of a uBPD mom.  She's an 84 yr old very frail widow.

For peer support, this site and forum is amazing.  I was shocked when I "landed" here and discovered there were people in the world with a mother with traits like mine.  I like the way anyone can come on here 24/7 with a BPD related problem of any kind, and there will be people here who understand, validate, and have thoughts and strategies to offer for support.  We all have pseudonyms so confidentiality is complete, and members can feel completely safe to tell their story.  The site has as many resources (and links to resources) as one choose to read.

I live in a small town in a rural area, and while videoconferencing is available, I am too afraid of being recognized, and having confidentiality breached even accidentally via slips of the tongue.  Things can happen in small towns, so I feel quite safe with the anonymity of this forum.

The support here is life changing for me, and has given me the opportunity to learn, grow, and hope that I can improve myself, let go of resentment, live my life and not the life my mother wants me to live for herand find enjoyment in life instead of stress, anxiety, and fear.

I hope you are successful and find what you are looking for. Doing the right thing (click to insert in post)
