Im having a hard time finding a lawyer I can afford to get my legitimazation process going, Is it a good idea to go it alone for this with the courts and see what they give me and revisit this in 4 months when im out of the lease with my uNPDexgf.

I will have more cash for a lawyer at that time, the 2 lawyers ive seen want 2,000.00 and half down. not doable at the moment as im living paycheck to paycheck

We found an attorney who is assisting us going prose, so we see him whenever we need to file a motion and he helps us fill it out and then his paralegal helps us file it.  It costs about  $300 per motion.  You can even have them show up to court at an hourly rate not as your attorney, but your assistant. 

It is not perfect, but it is better than no one.  We figure we will retain someone early next year when it is closer to trial and we are closer to being able to afford it.
