Hi everyone,

I thought I would lighten our topics with this one.

Some of us come here fairly often, and I remember you by your logos, and look forward to seeing them.

So - how did you choose your logo, or what does it represent for you?

I fell in love with mine, because the little fish seems a bit absurd and funny. A bit scared in its safe little fish-bowl, trying to get even safer with the umbrella - except rain should not be a major concern for a fish  Smiling (click to insert in post). I though it so much expressed the world of BPD laden with concern and contradiction - except this picture is very peaceful, sweet and cute.

I really like animals. Dogs in particular.

When starting on these boards I felt very scared about my future, about all the things that were going on. At the same time I realised that the past decade our r/s never was about me, but always about her (now I realise that being in that r/s has to do with who I am). Therefor: a scared (?) puppy with a note saying: why is it always about you.

I was inspired by you guys to put up a logo. Mine is a Salarian from a game called Mass Effect. Yes, I'm a little old to be playing video games. Salarians aren't known for being warriors, they're gentle and dedicated to knowledge. In the story, a ruthless omnipotent race is out to destroy the world.

Kirrahe (pictured) is part of the regiment sent to protect a facility key to stopping the invaders. But since they aren't soldiers by nature, they feel they stand no chance. So Kirrahe makes an impassioned oratory about how they have a proud tradition, and while it may not be in combat, it's within them to "hold the line". Holding the line is what I want for myself when I think about my boundaries, and I give myself a speech similar to that at times when I think I need it.

That and I've been looking for an excuse to put up a picture of a Mass Effect character.

What a fun thread... .  I picked on the day that I registered here. The prickly, confused, scared and slightly quirky little critter described me at the time. In the last several months, I've been thinking about changing it. After learning so much and working on myself, I feel like the little critter doesn't fit me much anymore. However, I've had a hard time in thinking of switching... .  perhaps he is a good reminder of where I have been and where I am now.

I just picked my pic today. I must admit I was afraid to put anything because posting online scared me. This is still so new to me. But i am beginning to feel more comfortale with my new online friends  I am always striving for inner peace. I look for it with scents and teas and books! So my picture represents peace... .  to me. It makes me thing of a Japanese garden.

That's funny, Being Mindful,

I always looked at your logo and thought of it as a friendly little wild creature saying "don't worry, everything will be ok."

Mine is a dog.  I wanted to use a photo of my actual dog for two reasons.  The first is because we got him for as a puppy two years ago as we thought it would be helpful for DD.  The second is that he has become my best friend.  Like all of you, he is always willing to listen, he is not judgemental, always happy to see me and I even sport a bumper sticker on the back of my car that says" who rescued who?".

Well! I noticed there was a very scared person on the boards who shared my logo... .  hrrrmphhh

I got this logo after there was another person who shared my earlier logo! My first logo was of a little girl letting go of a balloon. Which I felt at the time was so how I felt. A picture of helpless grieving it seemed. And then I got a dog!

My dog is owned by someone who is reading a book on why is it all about me? Well! I got sucked into the irony of it all. Here I am on these boards, talking about how I feel all the time, and my problems and how it's not fair etc etc.(all about me), my dd is naturally enough totally focussed on herself and her BPD and is struggling to survive (her viewpoint is it's all about her), I am powerless to change my dd and her situation the only one I can change is myself - so it is all about me and what I need to do to be a better person! And then my imaginary dog wants attention - it's all about my life outside of BPD that I too often ignore. You see, for me it's irony inside irony

I don't mind sharing very scared, but I don't mind changing either! I figure these boards are all about changing! And my name stays the same

cheers,

I recently changed my logo to this beautiful lotus flower, drifitng quietly on a pond. Isolation, fear, feeling closed off from myself -- these negative things are passing. The pain and difficulties are still here - the cycles of life with my DD26 and trying to stay connected while accepting that it is up to her to choose her path. Right now it has nothing to do with her acceptance of her BPD and getting treatment. She is going to jail soon instead of using the many opportunities placed in front of her.

This flower is my sign that I want to heal myself - to keep choosing the best route for me. And then I can maintain my balance and find the validation skills needed to keep connected to my DD while protecting myself from her aggressive bullying actions. And also to protect gd7.

The other thing is prayer flags that picture a lotus flower opening up to full bloom - this is my path.

Hi All,

My logo symbolises a strong and beautiful woman which I have started to find in myself and hope to continue and find my power.  something which has been lacking in the past.

Qcr, I went to a buddhist temple recently where I sometimes go to meditate and get closer to my spiritual self and there was something on the board that said something like "Be like the lotus flower that thrives and is beautiful even when growing in a muddy swamp". "The lotus flower represents one symbol of fortune in Buddhism. It grows in muddy water, and it is this environment that gives forth the flower’s first and most literal meaning: rising and blooming above the murk to achieve enlightenment." Quite pertinent really!

Has been fun reading your posts about why you chose your logos.

I am a newbie.  I picked Tigger because it is brings me back to when I would read to my dd the stories of Pooh.  We were happy and it felt safe and kind and gentle and quirky and goofy.  Living in the 100 Acres woods is a fun escape with loyal friends who have dysfunctions yet always have adventures with good endings.

Joining this community is an adventure with many challenges and similar loyal friends who are reaching out to help each other.  I already am sensing a kind and gentle area to go to where I can share and not be judged and feel safe.  thank you for asking, i was wondering the same thing about the logos... .

hi sk8  Welcome,

We are a wonderful place here with lots of people who understand how we feel. There is guidance and support aplenty. The best thing since sliced bread!

Here we learn from each other and it is wonderful to feel the improvements over the time we are here. Here we can find hope for ourselves and our beautiful children.

You are at home here,

Probably not scared enough to steal your log

Sorry for miss-using it, I wasn't aware it allready was in use.

Gave me an opportunity to change mine. From very scared, I'm still scared, but more about my future and the things that will come in my upcoming divorce than about my ex-r/s.

I'm aware that my future isn't about my stbx anymore. It's about me. Like Sisyphus I've paid my duty, but am not free yet. Unlike Sisyphus I will get there eventually. It will be tough, but I will get there. By then I will change my logo again.

Or when another owner comes forward  Smiling (click to insert in post)

My name is a play on mine and  my dd's  name since they both begin with J.  It was my original email account before she had her own thus I wanted her to feel that is was our account.

My avatar is Betty Boop because my dd loves her.

Perhaps I should change it all and make this about me

My name and logo was picked for me a few months back because my dd had from this site and had threatened to read my posts... .  I don't dare change it... .  I was terriblely upset when it had to be changed and I was very sad thinking no one will know who I am but that was not totally true... .  most remember me... .  I think... .  my real name is shelley so I think it is kind of funny that they picked a shell for me... .  I use to be Nelson who was a dear cat that I use to have but most thought I was a man then... .  I really suck at picking names so it is good someone else did it for me... .

  jellibeans,

shells remind me of beautiful pearls that are creative when abrasive unwanted objects enter the shell and cause the shell to react.

The reaction will cause the oyster to keep trying to cover the object and not let it be an irritant.  The process creates beauty from pain!

There is beauty in here somewhere, we can dig for oysters and find pearls!

I like your name!

check it! I got given a new avatar! Isn't he the cutest little thing... .  so this is what he means:

he is my life companion, he will always be there for me. He doesn't need to read, he can read my emotions. He listens to me, he validates me, he gives me unconditional love and asks for nothing in return. He accepts me for who I am. With him by my side, I can venture out into the world with a happy face.

He reminds me of what my dd wants.

Bitter sweet puppy,

But it doesn't seem to be online... .

I love dogs, so I'll take good care of your puppy

Aliens? Have had those in my past life! Losing things without knowing where they were, happened to me a lot the last 10 years. Stuff that lay on my desk or even in closed drawers, seemed to vanish when I was not home. In my new house, where I live alone, that doesn't happen anymore. Strange... .

If I have to break NC with my stbx again, I will ask if she has seen your puppy. Smiling (click to insert in post)
