Hello, Jack Salad is an internet name I use, and I'm here because my 23 year old son has been diagnosed with BPD and NPD.

We're 9 months in from when the first true symptoms started to show, my son lives with me and his younger brother and it's been that way for 12 years, their mother plays no active maternal role and lives a few hundred miles away.

I'm not going to go into details right now, A) because you all know these stories, struggles, emotions etc and B) because I really don't have the space in my head to go over it all again... .I mean damn... .I can't even remember everything as there's been so so much happened.

I joined the forum for the same reasons as probably all of us did... .to try and find contact with people that understand to some degree at least the intricacies of this "new life" caused by our loved ones condition.

My son has been treated terribly by our local mental health "care" system... .twice their errors and lack of true caring have led him to try and take his life, he's been in the local psychiatric ward twice in 5 months, once voluntarily and once due to being sectioned.

He is scheduled to at last start group therapy in two weeks and we are also hopeful that he will finally be given a psychiatrist to help him to cope on a day to day basis.

I will be back here at some point when I feel ready but for now... .hello... .and much, much love and strength to you all.

Jack

Hi Jack!

Welcome

I am so glad that you have found us. You must be under incredible stress worrying about your son... .

This website has wonderful people who care - they have helped me in the past, and also lots of resources that can help you understand the disorder and help you cope and be more effective in helping your son. But that's for later.

Please take your time, and take good care of yourself.

When you feel up to it, let us know how you are coping and how things are with your son... .

Hello Jack Sald,

Happy to have you here.

What kind of group therapy model is your son going to attend?  Is this the first time he has had therapy?

How does your other boy cope with all this?

Welcome jack

I found this site coming close to a year ago. It gave me great comfort to know I was not alone.  Beside gathering advise I found a few friends who seem to be housing my dd16 twin in some strange parallel univers. Our stories were very similar and it was a relief to find people who understood and could advise at a time when things were so out of control. Post more when you can. Take care of yourself.
