I sent this 7 min video:www.youtube.com/watch?v=JYMlgNoiilc to my dxBPDh. His response: "I have never seen a video like that and have to admit I feel as though the author looked inside my soul and pulled the ENTIRE story out of me. Unbelievable."

Even amidst the verbal abuse and cheating, something kept telling me my ex didn't want to hurt me. This kept me hanging on for so long. It took me forever to realize part of the problem was my lack of self-awareness and inability to maintain my boundaries (love for myself) especially against something so fierce as BPD.

okay enjoyed every second of that until the last slide.

Don't want to spoil it for anyone; but I tried that, and suffered for it.

I agree with everyone here. Thats kind of the whole issue. They rely on others to help them and rescue them. Otherwise that was a very powerful and eye opening video.

Them getting help is a big problem. The BPD illness is a false reality to deal with reality. So, this is very difficult. A couple of obstacles in my situation below. Are therapists out there helping guide nons on how to get pwBPD into therapy and stay there? I don't know but would love thoughts on this.

1) I will say it took me years to get into therapy. Once I did, its been an emotional roller-coaster for the last 4 years just now seeing consistent long-term benefits. What I had to go through sucked.

2) My dBPDxh tried many times to get help. He was in a mental hospital at 14 for months. In this experience, they put in on severe meds, etc. and he realized he just had to be good long enough to get out . He was discharged with nothing wrong with him.

He tried again 10 years ago when he was diagnosed with BPD. He was prescribed antipsychotic medicine which was horrible and wrongly done. Plus, the therapist couldn't do squat for BPD... .This is a very special illness requiring special therapy.

He then saw a psychiatrist (same one from mental hospital  at 14) a few years ago for 6 months twice a week that didn't do anything but made him feel very uncomfortable.

3) He would have to dedicate years to the process and find the right therapist... .Right now, he can't deal with every day life and every attempt in the past has been a failure.
