Looking for residential treatment facility

I am looking for a residential treatment facility for my 19 year old D.  3East at McLean sounds like the best, but it may be out of our budget.  Does anyone have any other recommendations?  Thanks.

Our objective is to better understand the struggles our child faces and to learn the skills to improve our relationship and provide a supportive environment and also improve on our own emotional responses, attitudes and effectiveness as a family leaders

Here is an old post where members discussion different RTC... . I know there are a few that went to Falcon Ridge Ranch in Utah... . They are all expensive and I do think you get what you pay for. You also need to consider the program... . does your dd have any problems with drugs etc... . I hope this article will help you. I am sorry that things are not good for you right now. Usually when people are searching for RTC they are already in crisis... . please take your time to ask questions... .

FEmom - is your dd willing and interested in getting treatment?  Just curious where she is over 18 since that can be an obstacle.  Falcon Ridge is adolescent only as is where my DD went. 

Do you have insurance coverage?

I have a lot of resources within the recovery and RTC world due to my daughters treatment and try to make some suggestions.

Mclean is a superb option but indeed it is expensive, as are most, and self pay only I think.

I had my dd accepted twice to their 28 day dual Dx acute program and insurance was going to cover but my dd refused treatment at that time.

I believe their is another facility that will take up to 19 year olds in Westboro, Ma but I don't know much about it other then it being in reference section for RTCs that Blaise Aguirre has in his overcoming BPD book.

Let me know a little more background and I can try to help out with a few options to look at.

Thanks for the replies.  She is 19 and it looks like Falcon Ridge will only take up to 17 years old.

She does not have a substance abuse problem but has a number of other health issues that make me inclined to think that she needs a program connected in some way to a hospital.  Due to her personal beliefs, faith based programs cannot be considered and she has always been deathly afraid of horses.

She is at McLeans now in a diagnostic program and I'm just looking to see if there are other programs out there to consider before agreeing to one of their programs.  Her motivation to go is that she desperately wants to return to her college and that isn't possible in her current state of functioning. She needs a highly structured program that addresses handling stress, anxiety, mood regulation, social skills, executive functioning skills (planning, follow-through, etc.).

Any suggestions are appreciated.  Thanks!

I cannot attest to the quality or know much about these other then they have DBT and are RTC that will take adolescents up to 19.

There is grove street adolescent home in Westboro, mass

Another option might be Chamberlain School in Mass as well

Again both are DBT based and have experience with Borderline adolescents.

I don't know much on admissions policies, costs or whether they are good bad or indifferent but Blaise Aguiire had them in his references as RTC within Massachusetts.

Dear femon, I am assuming you live in mass ? My d was in Grove street Westboro ma for almost 1 year it is run by the

dept of mental health in mass it cost us nothing .  It was all run by dbt .  She was 16 at the time and now is 21 and good days bad days . It kept her safe at the time, but she did not apply the skills she was taught they have to want to help themselves.  I heard Mclean was excellent but very expensive good luck and keep plugging away

Sadly it seems like the only DBT based programs for someone who is 19 or older are either at McLean's or Silver Hill.  Both have reputations but cost a small fortune.  For someone under 18, the state or school district is the one typically paying the bill.  I'm not sure what people who need treatment and are over 18 but lack $100,000 for treatment do?  What happens to these people?

It really is sad, that choices are so limited as a legal adult!   It is good that your dd is motivated for treatment, however.  I know many of us would love for our adult children to have treatment, but they are not willing.  So, we are absolutely, powerless in helping them.  We must accept what we cannot change.
