Sadly, we didn't go. Got into a fight with the wife, when I found out she had been shuttling dd around town. DD gets welfare, commits welfare fraud by keeping most of the money for herself, instead of paying rent, and figured she could keep even more for herself if she didn't buy a bus pass, and had mom drive her around. I'm not going to drive out to Toronto, and sit for a couple hours  and listen on how to deal with BPD, when my wife was caving and enabling. The kid has to grow up, and deal with problems herself, and if she is 2 hours late for an appointment, so be it. The very next day, after being driven around, dd asked for money and more rides. It just doesn't end, until you draw the line in the sand, and no means no. Dd doesn't ask me for rides or money, she knows what the answer will be. Having said that, it would have been nice to attend, I figure it would have been the chance of a lifetime.

It quite well might have been  Being cool (click to insert in post)

Do you think you may have had the chance to learn how to deal with the types of situations you mention above, in a way that might help move things forward?

I'm wondering, if your wife and daughter had heard Valerie Porr's presentation, if there could have been the chance for them to see their own roles in the turmoil you describe here?

Sometimes we are our own worst enemies when things seem to be going down the rabbit hole. We end up sliding right down with the rest of the characters in the story... .
