DBT In NYC
«

I'm happy to say my dd, almost 21, has decided she's ready to commit to a DBT program. We are on LI, NY. there are two in Nassau Cty, but neither take my insurance. There's Suffolk DBT which is 40 miles away. They take my insurance but my daughter has been having a tough time getting them to return her calls. Plus I really worry about her ability to drive 80 miles roundtrip twice a week, especially with the difficult Long Island traffic.
Has anyone had any good experiences with any DBT programs in Manhattan?

Dear paulaJeanne
I hope you get some ideas from other members... . I am hoping to bump this up.
Have you looked at the TARA website?
www.tara4BPD.org/dyn/index.php
I am sorry I really don't know your area well but this might be a good place to start.

Thank you jellibeans, I'm looking at the site now. There's a lot of info there.
It's so hard to envision my daughter doing this for herself, even if she wants to make the commitment. It's so confusing navigating through all the insurance issues, and then the waiting list issues. Just what a person with abandonment issues needs--rejection because they're not taking new patients!

PM me. I might be able to help you out with your options, as I'm in your general neck of the woods.

Tara was founded by Valerie Porr... . if you have not read her book "Overcoming BPD" I highly recommend it... . I hope you find some help where you are... . I wish I could attend the workshops offered there... . really a good source for support and education
