Getting Residential HELP
«

My daughter is 21 and things are worse than ever. How can I get her into a good residential treatment center? She is on Medicaid and on my ins. My ins does not cover residential. She is not safe in her behaviors. What do you do if there is no coverage? I am so desperate.

Hi. I'm sorry for the evident crises you are in with your DD. My DD's medicaid is paying for her RTC. I would think your DD's would as well.

kellygirl601, my son (he's 37 now) has been on Medicaid since being off of our Insurance at age 25, and it has paid for his 2 (normal) Rehabs and a 21-day Intensive In-Patient Dual Diagnosis Center last year, where he was finally diagnosed with BPD. His Out-Patient Therapist arranged the admission to the Dual Diagnosis Program, and the paperwork to have Medicaid pay for it.
Does your daughter have a health-care Professional treating her in some way who could help you with all of this? We live in New York State, and the DDx Center was in Pennsylvania, and Medicaid still paid for it. If your daughter is diagnosed with a mental health issue/medical issue, and has Professionals working with her, couldn't they suggest a program (RTC, DDx Program, etc.) for her and help arrange the payments through her Medicaid? Possibly your state is different in how it manages its Medicaid system, but it's worth a try to inquire... .Good luck

Thank you! It is hard because at 21 I don't have much input. I'm going to call Medicaid and see what they say. With all of her issues I don't understand why a dr or therapist has not told us to put her in rtc and show us... . Very hard to navigate for sure.
