I am married to a woman who has BPD. We have been married for 35 years and I have recently been diagnosed myself with PTSD and depression. I am determined to stay in this relationship and have gotten her into counseling for the fourth time. I have told her that although I am committed to staying with her I am willing to leave if she does not stay in therapy. She knows from our history together that I never bluff so I am seeing some improvement. She has started taking a SSRI and has begun to recognize some of the the hurtful things she has been doing over the years. It is still mostly my fault, of course, but she is making progress.

Her new behaviors seem to me like she is acting, following a script. The nice things she says to me now seem forced and canned but I am optimistic. Most of all, I am exhausted... .
